Essex and Suffolk Water is thanking customers for helping to reduce water demand by around seven per cent since the hosepipe ban was introduced at the start of August.
The company says recent rainfall has been welcome, but Essex and Suffolk remain in drought, with reservoir levels still below average. Its latest figures show combined Essex reservoir storage at 46 per cent full.
With more warm temperatures for the time of year expected, customers are being encouraged to continue using water wisely.
Simple measures include turning off the tap while brushing your teeth, shortening showers by a minute and checking toilets for leaks.
Essex and Suffolk Water says continued efforts to reduce demand will help reservoirs recover, protect the local environment and support water supplies in the years ahead. The company continues to have a hosepipe ban or 'Temporary Use Ban' in place across its supply area.
