Pilot Dies as US Military Jet from Suffolk Crashes in the North Sea

A US Air Force fighter jet aircraft based at RAF Lakenheath here in Suffolk, has crashed in the North Sea – with the pilot of the downed F-15C located and confirmed dead.
A statement issued by the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath said that at the time of the accident on Monday morning, the aircraft was on a routine training mission with one pilot on board.
The US Airforce called on UK Search and Rescue to help with the incident during the day. However during Monday evening, RAF LAkenheath confirmed the pilot had died and that this was a tragic loss for the 48th Fighter Wing community – and deepest condolences go out to the pilot’s family and the 49erd Fighter Squadron.
