A 40-year-old lorry driver from Lowestoft is due to appear in court in relation to drug driving, driving without due care and attention – as well as tachograph offences.

Police were called at the end of last year, to a single vehicle collision involving a heavy goods vehicle on the A143 at Pakenham in west Suffolk.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 40’s from Lowestoft, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

He was bailed to return to police. Results of blood tests showed that he had more than seven times the level of legal level of cocaine and an excess of cannabis.

The man is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court this month, where he will be charged with two counts of drug driving, tachograph offences and driving without due care and attention.
