Damage to Suffolk Nature Reserve and Ness Park

As the Government’s ‘lockdown’ restrictions continue to ease, an increasing number of visitors to our open spaces, has led to impacts in one of our nature reserves.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Lound Lakes has proved very popular lately - and most visitors have heeded requests to respect the reserve.

However, over recent days there have been reports of damage to seating and large amounts of rubbish being left at the site - with disposable BBQ’s also used which have scorched the ground.

Meanwhile, Police have been made aware following acts of vandalism, including spitting and criminal damage at Ness Park in Lowestoft, which is currently under construction in Whapload Road.

East Suffolk Council has said that it is saddened and disgusted at the behaviour, which threatens the safety of those working on the site during the pandemic.
