Following the recent closure of Lowestoft’s Claremont Pier – residents and local groups are now hoping that a buyer can be found – securing the future for one the east coast’s iconic landmarks.
Views via social media sent to us at East Suffolk One about the future of the pier  included having the pier extended with a ‘T jetty’ at the end – so boats can provide trips to other coastal locations, such as Southwold.
This could open the town up for tourist boat trips and offer a boost to visitor numbers to the town.
Meanwhile, other suggestions have included raising money for the pier by selling name plaques on rails of the pier itself similar to that on Southwold pier…
The pier dates back to 1903 – and before its closure included the Aquarium music venue…bar… restaurant…roller skating rink and the amusement arcade.
It’s hope a new owner can be found in time for this years summer season.
